Bean bag chairs: models, sizes and fabrics

A bean bag chair is a seat without a rigid frame: the EPS bead filling moulds to your body, and with no legs or frame it is easy to carry from room to room. This category brings together around 130 products – classic pear-shaped bean bag chairs in sizes L, XL and XXL, bean bags with a backrest, floor bean bags, giant floor cushions, sports ball bean bags, pouffes and footstools, and gaming bean bags. Most models come in several fabrics and colours.

What is a bean bag chair?

It is a soft seat filled with expanded polystyrene (EPS) beads. The beads shift under your weight and shape a seat around you – more upright for reading, more reclined for a film. If you would like a firmer seat later on, you simply top up the filling.

Which size is right for you?

Choose the size by height, not by body weight. EPS beads adapt to every build – a heavier person can sit comfortably on a smaller model – but for a tall adult the L size no longer supports the back.

• L – generally for children aged about 3 to 5–6 (kids' bean bag chairs).
• XL – for older children, teenagers and adults.
• XXL – for adults, especially taller people (Giant Bean Bag XXL).

Fabrics, colours and care

The classic bean bag chair comes in Soft Velvet (16 colours), Dot Textured Velvet, Soft Corduroy, Jumbo Corduroy, Teddy Boucle (10 colours), Yeti Faux Fur, Premium Noble Wool, Premium Natural Cotton (undyed organic cotton), Premium Printed Fabric, Outdoor Pro (24 colours), Faux Leather (23 colours) and Premium Genuine Leather. All our fabrics are OEKO-TEX certified.

On most models the filling sits in an inner liner, and the outer cover comes off via a discreet zip and can be washed at 30–40°C depending on the fabric – cotton at up to 60°C, Outdoor Pro at 30°C. Sports balls, the Cubo and Cilindro pouffes, footstools and models in faux leather or genuine leather do not have a removable cover; Cubo Solid does. Children's models, sports balls and faux or genuine leather models have double zips that make it harder to reach the filling, yet they can still be topped up.

For the garden or patio, choose Outdoor Pro: the fabric is waterproof and dries quickly. Even so, keep the bean bag out of strong sun and store it somewhere dry when you are not using it. You will find suitable models among our Outdoor Bean Bags.

Filling, guarantee and delivery

Bean bags, floor cushions, sports balls and pouffes are filled with EPS: loose EPS beads made from virgin, odourless granulate with a hygiene certificate – only Cubo Solid has a solid EPS core. The square seat cushion (44 cm) is the exception, filled with upholstery foam. To make your bean bag fuller, add Bean Bag Filling (bags of 50, 100, 200 or 400 l). For bean bags, Bermuda, Drop and several other models we also offer replacement covers: on models with an inner liner you just move the filled liner into the new cover.
