An outdoor bean bag chair gives you the sink-in comfort of a bean bag in a fabric made for the outdoors. This category brings together four Italpouf chairs in Outdoor Pro – a waterproof, quick-drying fabric for indoor and outdoor use: Bali, Distinto XXL, Amalfi and Porto Smart. Each has its own shape, and all four are filled with EPS beads that shape themselves to your body.

• Porto Smart – a floor seat with a pocket and around 300 l of filling.

Not sure which one to pick? Go by your height rather than your weight: the taller you are, the better a bigger chair supports your back. Distinto XXL is the natural choice for tall adults, Bali suits anyone who likes to lean back against a backrest, Amalfi is a neat cube for a smaller terrace, and Porto Smart keeps the small things you want close at hand in its pocket.

Outdoor Pro: waterproof and quick-drying

All four chairs are made from Outdoor Pro, our fabric for indoor and outdoor use. It is waterproof, so a spilled drink, wet swimwear or a passing shower stays on the surface, and it dries quickly afterwards – wipe the cover down and let it air-dry before you sit back down. The fabric comes in many plain colours, from beige, grey and black to turquoise, lime and fuchsia, so the chair can blend in with the garden or stand out against it. Two simple habits keep it looking its best: keep the chair out of full sun when you are not using it, and store it somewhere dry when the outdoor months are over.

EPS bead filling that follows your body

Every chair is filled exclusively with EPS beads – virgin (not recycled), odourless polystyrene granules with a hygiene certificate. The beads shift as you move, so the chair adapts whether you sit upright with a coffee or lean back with a book, and people of any build can use it comfortably. Bali, Distinto and Porto Smart also have a white inner bag attached inside, which holds the beads whenever the outer cover comes off. Beads settle with use; when the chair starts to feel lower, simply top it up – we sell EPS refill beads in 50, 100, 200 and 400 l bags.

Covers, care and replacement covers

For everyday care, a damp cloth is usually all you need. On Bali, Distinto and Porto Smart the outer cover can be removed and washed at 30 °C; let it dry completely before putting it back on. Seams are reinforced, and the zip is sewn in so that it stays out of sight. If you fancy a new colour later, or the chair is moving from the garden to the living room, replacement covers are available for Bali, Distinto and Porto Smart – in Outdoor Pro and in Soft Velvet for indoor use. On chairs with an inner bag, taking the cover off follows our step-by-step washing guide: you pour the beads into the attached inner bag first and then unzip the outer cover.

Where an outdoor bean bag chair works best

On a terrace or patio, the chairs give you flexible seating that you can pull into the shade or push aside when you need the space. On a balcony, the cube-shaped Amalfi and the Porto Smart floor seat fit where a garden sofa would not. On the lawn, Bali and Distinto XXL turn a quiet corner into a reading spot. And because Outdoor Pro is intended for indoor and outdoor use, the same chair can move into the living room, a teenager's bedroom or a playroom once the evenings turn cooler. A bean bag chair has no frame and no hard edges, so moving it is simply a matter of picking it up.
